Politburo (again) fails to set date for plenum
We still don’t have a date for the Third Plenum.
On Wednesday, the Politburo held its monthly meeting.
They reviewed:
- Work reports from the Party groups of the legislature (NPCSC), State Council, political advisory body (CPPCC), Supreme People's Court, Supreme People's Procuratorate, and the Central Secretariat.
- A report on the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era study campaign,
- A guideline on consolidating the gains from the study campaign
- Party regulations on disciplinary inspection
What they didn’t do: Set a date for the much-anticipated Third Plenum, which is expected to initiate a new round of economic reforms.
Get smart: The unexplained delay in holding the Third Plenum (which was expected in October) will further undermine already low business and consumer confidence.
- That will make it more difficult for the economy to consolidate its nascent recovery.
